This is
a process which uses vocal and instrumental expression for
the purpose of enhancing wellness. It is the skillful use
of sound in musical elements to promote, maintain and restore
mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health.
The participants
involved do not need to be familiar with musical theories
or know how to play instruments. This is an excellent modality
to improve coordination, self awareness, communication and
increase creative thinking.
Sound
is everywhere and creates a stage of absorption. As human
beings we become preoccupied with sounds that we hear. All
sounds verbal or non verbal affects our state of being. At
the SanLyn Wellness Centre, team members are focused on using
sound in a positive way to reduce stress, assist in grief/bereavement
work, improve concentration, provide tools for letting go
of unhealthy habits, increase self-esteem, confidence, support
expression and emotional release.
The SanLyn
Wellness Centre used a diverse array of ethnic musical instruments
such as; didgeridoos, Buffalo & African drums as well
as flutes, shakers and various string instruments.
