Past Life Therapy is a topic clouded in mystery and mostly shunned by the Clinical & Medical Therapeutic community. However this modality was introduced and popularized in the late 1980s by Dr. Brian Weiss, a prominent psychiatrist in the United States and author of the top selling book Many Lives Many Masters. (An amazing quick read). Dr. Weiss appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show on May 13, 2008. He group hypnotized the audience and some audience members recalled their previous lives as dramatically different to their present existence. For example one woman saw herself in a murky swamp and looked down to see that her legs were that of a male, while another audience participant saw herself as a different race.

Past Life Therapy is a process of learning how events from another time period are interconnected to your present life situations. Hypnosis is used to allow a relaxed state of mind, body and spirit to be accessed in the vast storage area of the subconscious part of our brain. Changed states of consciousness take place, while the conscious mind, which is the everyday skeptical and rational mind goes into a sleep-like state which allows the past life memories to easily emerge. The sessions are evenly divided between clients who are extremely visual and detail oriented towards what they are seeing while others will actually feel the experience in detail. The client is still fully aware of everything that is taking place around them in their mind as well as in the therapeutic room.

Sanlyn Wellness has had various different experiences with clients coming in for Past Life Therapy. Some are curious to the topic and are looking just to see what they may have been, while others have experienced intense déjà vu in a newly visited foreign city while on vacation or had a draw or affinity to a particular geographical area of the world.

"Then there are clients who have debilitating phobias and physical conditions that cannot be explained or relieved by other therapeutic techniques and often feel better after a session. Some clients have even spoken in foreign languages and given such particular details of a place that they have never heard or seen of before the session. Lastly, there is a group of clients that come in to use this technique to figure out ones purpose in this lifetime."

One of the key elements of the session is that it does not matter if the experience is real or imagined. The overall effect is that if it elicits a change in a client after the session or a block is removed in their present life, then the modality has been successful in its implementation. If you are looking to experience a Past Life Therapy session, call or email Sanlyn Wellness.
